Emergency Timeline - Safety vs. Security

The responsibility of Planning is with Safety. People are 95% more likely to survive an emergency event if they have a plan.

The responsibility of Ministry Training is with Safety. You will either rise to the occasion or fall to your training. Annual driss, consistent training and Safety Moments will prepare teams and help them identify threats.

The responsibility during an Actual Event is with Security. During an actual event, Security Teams get called and they are responsible for protecting the congregation and pastor until first responders arrive. 

The responsibility post event is with First Responders. Most active shooter events are only 4 minutes. Usually by the time first responders are on the scene the event is over. They will control the environment and determine release of lockdown.

The responsibility of Reunification is with Safety. A reunification plan is necessary for a quick and efficient way to reunify parents and kids after an event. The plan needs to be detailed and in conjuction with mutual aid partners.
